What is your background in teaching? What credentials do you have and where did you attend college for them?
I attended Scott Community College in Bettendorf IA, and Winona State University
in Winona, MN. I received my bachelors degree as a nontraditional student
in 2009. I have taught second grade at WAPS for two years and look forward to teaching third grade this coming school year. Before becoming a teacher I was a nurse for 19 years.
What are your interests?
My interest and past times are sports, sports, and more sports! My favorites are football, hockey, baseball, and
tennis. I am a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Bears, Minnesota
Wild, and Winona Winhawks!. The best sporting events to watch are the
ones my boys are playing in! I also love to scrap-book!
What is some personal information?
I am married to the awesome Mr. Fran McDevitt from the middle school and have three sons; Drew 20, Luke
15, and Brayden 7.
Why did you apply for a STEM faculty position?
I have always been attracted to new and outside of the box ideas. Being a pioneer in the Winona Area Public
Schools first choice program is a great opportunity for me.
What excites you about this new position and new program?
I love the fact that I will be teaching in a new and cutting edge curriculum format. Science, technology, engineering,
and math are being mandated by our governing bodies as integrated materials in our curriculum. I am
looking forward to having the opportunity to give me students the education they need to excel in these areas.
